sometimes i think i could _BURN"I'm so sorry—love, Elliott. God forgive me." took three shots to the head while performing onstage. Twenty-four years before that John Lennon was shot four times in the back, at the entrance hallway of the Dakota. On April 8th, 1994 thousands of teens tuned into MTV to find distressed VJs selling air time to any company willing to give up the cash in-between vague details about Kurt Cobain eating led. On July 3, 1971 Jim Morrison ate the dirt sandwich. October 21, 2003 – Elliot Smith – two stab wounds. The examples go on and on. Rock ‘n roll is growing up, and growing old. Conforming; becoming complacent – the only choice is a slow death or an immediate one. Burn out or fade away? Music Television plays reality TV that is like no life I have ever known. No one trusts the government, and the nation is fighting a war many of its occupants simply don’t agree with. Eye liner sales have increased dramatically, Hot Topic has never done so well – and yet, more often then not, music with any substance is ignored, hidden, murdered – if it doesn’t get a chance to kill itself first. Imagine if you will, that every rock star you have ever loved never got old. Image that they never sold out, and that they never died. Pretend, for a second that you could set the past on fire. That somewhere, in some world, all these people exist in the same town not knowing their potential. Not knowing what lies in store for them – money, success, fame, glamour. And inevitably death, but what if the when, where and how of that was up to you? Behold _BURN, set in a loathsome town of Ohio, during the tedious year of 2008. A place where your heroes live on as disillusioned teens, just trying to survive amongst a society that just doesn’t understand and probably never will.[/ul]
